Termite Treatment and Detection Systems
-
A brief history on termites and termite treatments.
The Romans referred to these ancient insects as "Termes" which aptly means "woodworms" (Mallis, pp. 233). They have an insatiable appetite for anything that is cellulose based which is what wood is comprised of. Termites are beneficial for the environment in that they breakdown and convert cellulose into methane and other micronutrients that can be returned to the soil. These creatures become a destructive pest when they encroach upon our homes and other structures and leave behind nothing more than a skeletal shell of wood beams, joists, studs, shelves, etc. Modern
